As you may already know Allotment sites which are owned and managed by Newbury Town Council are now open to non-residents. This was firstly agreed at the Community Services Committee Meeting of Monday, 26 September 2016. (minute number 33 below).
ALLOCATION OF ALLOTMENT PLOTS TO APPLICANTS FROM OUTSIDE NEWBURY PARISH
PROPOSED: Councillor Dave Goff
SECONDED: Councillor David Fenn
RESOLVED: To allow residents from adjoining parishes to join the waiting list for Newbury Town Council’s six allotment sites and to be allocated allotment plots, charged at three times the rate for residents of Newbury. This is in line with our current charging policy for other services provided to non-residents i.e. Cemetery Charges.
Therefore going forwards, any resident of the neighbouring Parishes can apply for and be issued a Newbury Town Council Allotment.
In the meeting of Wednesday, 24 May 2017, members of the Southby’s Allotment Tenants Association requested a review of the out of Parish fee’s and the following was passed.
ALLOTMENT CHARGES FOR OUT OF PARISH
PROPOSED: Councillor David Fenn
SECONDED: Councillor Jeff Beck
RESOLVED: That the Out of Parish Allotment rents be doubled, this is to take effect immediately and overpayments be credited towards future charges, No other amendments to the Out of Parish charging scale are to be made until after April 2018.
Should you have any residents within your Parishes who wish to have an allotment plot, and are unable to accommodate their needs, you can either direct them to the Newbury Town Council website https://www.newbury.gov.uk/allotments.php, give them our telephone number 01635 35486 or provided them a copy of the attached Allotment Rules (December 2016) the Charges and our Application.
We do have some vacant plots at our sites and are very keen to fill them.
